Become a lasting part of The Cushman School legacy! Listed below are several giving opportunities.
Major Gifts: Significant donations in support of campus enhancements and naming opportunities are available at several levels of donation.
E.W. Drody Fund: This is a restricted fund that provides scholarship support to families who otherwise could not have their children enrolled at Cushman. E. W. Drody was the father of Cushman’s current Head of School, Dr. Joan Lutton. This fund was started by his family in his memory and in honor of his passion for education and his support of Dr. Laura Cushman’s vision as carried forward by his daughter, Dr. Joan Lutton.
June Burgett Sabbatical Fund: This fund enables our teachers to expand their horizons by travelling anywhere in the world. It is funded solely by donations, the winners are selected by the previous winners, and presentations are given to the faculty and staff upon return to share new information and broaden our global view. June Burgett was a Fifth Grade teacher at Cushman who began the Heritage Program (a global project for the 5th grade students) and who chose to use her retirement bonus to start this fund in support of her fellow teachers’ professional development.
Janet Fournier Legacy Fund: This endowment fund provides scholarships for deserving students, professionaldevelopment, computer upgrades, facility renovations, audio-visual aids for the 2nd grade classrooms, and the development of a media collection of Janet’s “Words of Wisdom.” Janet Fournier was a Master Teacher who influenced and inspired all her second grade students through the years. Her family created this fund in her memory.
The Laura Cushman Academy Professional Development Fund: This endowment fund provides LCA faculty the opportunity to attend professional development seminars and conferences and to host guest speakers in order to enhance the educational experience of children who learn differently. This fund was created in honor of the essential work done by Dr. Linda Johnson, who created The Laura Cushman Academy in the 1998-99 academic year.
The Scholastic Book Fair: The Cushman School’s Book Fair is held in September and May. All proceeds benefit The Cushman School Library.
Teacher Wish List: The teacher wish list contributions directly benefit individual classrooms and/or teachers. The list is comprised of teachers’ wants that are above and beyond the materials needed to teach a rigorous curriculum. For more information, ask your child’s teacher.
The Michael Jacobson Fund: This fund was created by The Jacobson family in honor of their son Michael and provides financial assistance to students for The Middle School trip.
