Welcome to the heart of your child’s educational journey, middle school. At the Cushman Middle School, we provide a challenging academic and learning environment for all students. Cushman’s tradition of character first, continues throughout the middle school years in keeping with the vision and philosophy of our founder, Dr. Laura Cushman. Through our small, personalized, caring and high achieving program, students blossom intellectually, socially, and emotionally with poise and assurance. While being mindful of the ever transitioning early adolescent, our middle school provides a secure bridge from the contained classes of elementary school to the challenges of high school life.
The Cushman Middle School, made up of both the 7th and 8th grade, has a challenging academic curriculum infused with critical thinking, problem solving and technology. Each student takes classes in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Latin, Spanish and Physical Education. We offer advanced placement classes in Mathematics and World Languages in both the 7th and 8th grades. Further, students are able to choose from numerous elective classes, including Band, Video Production, Earth-Space Science, Yearbook, Chinese, Journalism, Art and Theatre.
Our school has a reputation for innovation, creativity, dedication and excellence. We have a highly qualified and progressive teaching staff that is committed to providing our students with culturally relevant and rigorous instruction using alternative curriculum and resources in addition to utilizing traditional methods. We work hard to reach each child academically as well as socially and emotionally.
