Cushman School Parents’ Association (CSPA)
Let’s teach through example and show our kids what it truly means to give.
The Cushman Family is a tight network of parents, students, faculty, staff and administration committed to taking care of each other. The CSPA is at the heart of it all facilitating many programs to the betterment of our school.
The CSPA is not only responsible for acting as the liaison between the parent community and The Cushman School's staff, faculty, and administration, it’s also their support system. Each CSPA Room Parent is a communicator and organizer who plans and facilitates supplemental class activities and parties. And as active CSPA members, Room Parents assist in the planning and implementation of fundraising events whose proceeds allow us to make needed additions to our campus and our classrooms.
While Cushman Room Parents are some of the hardest working members of our parent community, the CSPA has room for everyone! Opportunities range from fundraising, community service, social events, and participation in your child’s classroom. There’s no effort too small. Plus, most CSPA activities are so much fun that once you start volunteering you won’t want to stop. Check out the fun-filled list below!
Pizza Lunch Club (on-going): The Pizza Lunch Club serves hot pizza for lunch to Cushman students who pay to participate every Friday. This is great for parents (who don’t have to pack lunch), students (who love pizza) and the CSPA. Since the Pizza Lunch Club has become so popular, parent volunteers are needed on campus each Friday from 8:30 am through noon to ensure its smooth operation.
Halloween Howl and Bazaar: The Halloween Howl has been a favorite of Cushman students for years. At the Howl, Cushman students, alumni, and friends can go enjoy rides, eat, and take home prizes for playing awesome games! The Halloween Howl also includes a bazaar of outside vendors who donate a portion of their sale proceeds to our school. A dedicated team of parents is needed to help sponsor, set up, run and dismantle the event.
Annual School Picnic: This event, held annually on a Saturday in February, is when families, teachers, school faculty and kids all come together to share a fun-filled day of relay races, games and food for the whole family. The picnic is a great gathering for both parents and children to enjoy an afternoon of sports, games, food and fun. Volunteers are needed to set-up and clean-up, run games, sell food, man booths and much more!
Cushman Appreciation Week: Cushman Appreciation Week is the opportunity for the CSPA and individual families to show our faculty and staff our heart-felt appreciation by hosting various events and activities. The most popular has become the Wednesday potluck lunch provided by Cushman families. The committee will come up with creative ideas and organize the week accordingly. Volunteers are needed to implement a successful event.
Cushman Cares (on-going): Cushman Cares is the school-wide community service project of the CSPA. During the year, Cushman Cares collects canned food (Thanksgiving), new toys (holiday), and books (spring) and helps when needed (e.g. hurricanes).
Class Parties (Halloween, Holiday and Valentine’s Day): Class parties are organized by the teachers, and parents provide support by bringing in food, drinks, crafts, etc.
The Cushman School Gala: This is the single largest fund-raising event of the year. Many volunteers and donors are needed! Volunteers are needed to be part of the Gala committee. Donations for the silent and live auction and sponsors to underwrite gala expenses are also needed. Parents are encouraged to purchase tables, seats and raffle tickets.
