Our students are exposed to a wide variety of technological tools in a developmental, natural, integrative way on a daily basis through curricular-based programs.
First through eighth grade classrooms are equipped with multimedia presentation systems and 4-5 year old multiage through eighth grade classrooms also have interactive white boards.
First through fourth grade students use our Macbook computer cart for a variety of classroom projects and activities that span both the Windows and Mac operating system platforms. All grade levels enjoy school wide subscriptions to online resources like Brainpop, which has volumes in Spanish and English. Access to other resources like Accelerated Reader, Lexia, Destination Math, and online textbooks are available for the appropriate grade and curricular levels. An iPad Cart visits classrooms upon teacher requests.
The Cushman School is also a wireless laptop community. Fifth through eighth grade students enter our 1 to1 Anytime, Anywhere Laptop Program and every student is required to have a laptop for use in the classroom and at home. Cushman offers a laptop/tablet lease package for fifth grade students which includes a warranty and accidental liability insurance, all required software, peripherals, service and loaner laptops/tablets. Students in the laptop program receive a Cushman School email that is used for class and school communications. Parents also have 24-hour access to school and class information via our web site and the parent and student Veracross portals.
We like that our students leave Cushman with powerful technological skills that enable them to think independently, analytically, and critically, preparing them to navigate the ever-changing technology in our society. At Cushman, it is not about integrating technology into the curriculum - our goal is to integrate children into learning using technology.
