AMADO, LEOPOLDO (LEO), age 57, July 11, 1958- June 15, 2014, passed away peacefully at his home in El Portal.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, but dedicating his life to The Cushman School, Leo was a man who modeled good character and sprinkled happiness on all. The Cushman School has been blessed to have had Leo as a member of its family. For nearly two decades, Leo lovingly touched the lives of thousands of children and their families. As our crossing guard and friend, unfailing devotion, integrity, and unyielding commitment to ensure the safety of Cushman's students, faculty, and staff were always his top priority. As a man of honor, Leo led a life of courage with a personal quest to positively influence the lives of others.
Leo’s love for engaging in conversation regarding news in sports, fishing, current events, history or music were contagious. Whether Leo was talking about the Dolphins, the Heat, or his favorite college team, Leo was knowledgeable, passionate and enthusiastic. His celebration of life through his many ‘hats’ brought joy and smiles to everyone on campus. Leo has been described as ‘one in a million’, ‘a trusted friend,’ and ‘an angel from above.’ Leo’s contributions are immeasurable and he will be deeply missed.
There will be celebration of Leo’s life on September 4, 2014, at 8:45 a.m. at The Cushman School. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cushman School for security enhancements in Leo’s honor.
Leo is survived by the love of all who have walked through The Cushman School’s blue gates.
